Sara Lee Breads Empty

Most of Sara Lee Hearty & Delicious breads are HFCS free. Sadly, their hot dog and hamburger buns are not. I was glad to find Whole Foods buns on your list. I wonder why I never checked them before?

Hi bobshc,

we love the Sara Lee sweet breakfast breads. If they start to get a little dried out, we make french toast with what's left. But as a plus they do stay fresh for a long time, and we live in dry Colorado.

I have also found good hotdog/hamburger buns at a store called Sun Flower Farmers market....but I believe they are just in Colorado.

If there is a Jewish bakery in your area, they often make buns for kosher deli's (no corn product at all), and will be happy to make up a small extra order for individuals.

Well that's all fine and great, but really these bread companies should remove all the junk, not just HFCS. All of Sara Lee breads that I've looked at have partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oil or enzymes derived from it (mono and diglycerides, etc). I do not buy any of their products. It ticks me off that they say "healthy" and "all natural" when they're far from it. I see advertising like that (it's on their hotdog and hamburger buns too, but as you say, they have HFCS in them) and get excited that there's nothing bad in them and then read the label and wind up disappointed.

A bread ingredient list should have maybe six or seven items on it. I find that Sara Lee has way more stuff in it than I want.
